After 40 years, I am recently retired from full-time practice in British Columbia. I continue to offer some services and maintain practice licenses in Manitoba and Alberta. Currently, I am busy with medical writing and offer advisory and consultation services. As well, I do invite virtual patient consults on a part-time basis.

Graduated: 1986 NUNM

Why I chose naturopathic medicine

"I was absolutely inspired by my mother, who loved life and embraced the natural and beautiful offerings of the environment around her. Easily, she refused to be satisfied with the limited absolutes conventional medicine declared for her. I suppose I have gained some of her determination to always find best answers, as well as her love of the earth's beauty and gifts surrounding. I was further inspired by my long-time family doctor, and later another ND I met, who both humbly and genuinely gave themselves fully to love and care for each patient they saw, passionately seeking to always learn and understand with endless curiosity how the body works, and who consistently walked beside their patients through whatever good and whatever came. "

My approach to patient care

My focus, ethic and effort are first towards you as an individual so that I may come to know your story and best understand your needs. The more I am able to understand why your body is doing what it is doing (these are your signs and symptoms), the better we are able to find an environment to optimally support you.

What I wish people knew

Naturopathic medicine is a fully coherent philosophy that guides its practice. It recognizes both the art and science of medicine, and it is fully focused on each individual as a whole person with one's own particular story and unique expression of signs and symptoms. These signs and symptoms are seen first as the body's response and attempt to recover from the disease state. Simply removing symptoms that the body is expressing does not usually remove the underlying disease state. Using all the tools of medicine, one seeks to teach and guide patients to use therapies that provide the gentlest, most rapid, and most permanent benefit.
